01 / Why this room matters

More than books were kept on these shelves.

Stara Łąka has no bookshop, no youth centre and no warm public room open after school. The library was all three.

When the water came through the old schoolhouse, neighbours formed a line from the reading room to the dry steps. They carried out atlases, family chronicles, children’s books and the handwritten catalogue. What survived is now boxed in the parish hall.

“My daughter still asks when she can sit in the window seat again. I want to tell her a date, not ‘someday.’”— Marta, reader and parent

02 / The reopening plan

Four chapters back to an open door.

The building work comes first. Then the shelves, the books, and finally the long table where the village can gather again.

Before you give.

How do I make a donation?

Choose a suggested amount or enter your own, copy the bank details, then make the transfer in your own banking app. This page never sends you to a payment website.

How should donors see proof of spending?

Link the open ledger to dated updates containing invoices, contractor details, receipts and clear notes when costs change.

What happens if the goal is exceeded?

Additional funds go to book replacement first, then a protected maintenance reserve, with every extra amount recorded publicly.
